Özet

This study was conducted to determine the relationship of social support with quality of life, care burden and burnout in caregivers of cancer patients and enrolled in the Oncology-Hematology Clinic and the Outpatient Chemotherapy Unit of a public hospital. The mean scores were found as follows: Zarit Scale of Caregiver Burden: 41.40 ± 10.68, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support: 66.27 ± 11.72, World Health Organization Quality of Life Scale Short Form-General Health Status: 56.25 ± 13.93, and Pines Burnout Scale Short Form: 2.45 ± 0.95. It has been determined that there is a significant relationship between social support and quality of life (p = .000, P = .005, p = .007). In conclusion, as social support increases among caregivers of cancer patients, their quality of life improves, and their caregiving burden and burnout decrease.
