Effects of inbreeding on some agricultural characteristics of orchardgrass (Dactylis glomerata L.).
Özet
This
research was carried out on the effects of inbreeding on some agricultural
characteristics of orchardgrass in greenhouse in 1996 and 1997. Selfed and
outcrossed progenies of four populations of wild orchardgrass were used.
Selfing caused decrease in all characters except for crude protein percentage
and root weight. The most inbreeding depression was determined in seed yield
and it reduced 35.97% with selfing. Consequently, the plant number in
population should not be reduced in a selection programme that selfing is not
desirable.
