COMPARISON OF BOTANIC COMPOSITION AND RANGELAND CONDITION SCORE AND HEALTH CLASS TRADITIONALLY GRAZED AND LONG-TERM RENTED IN THE KARGAPAZARI MOUNTAINS

This study carried out in the pasture sites that arc traditionally used and rentcd for a long time in Kosk Village of Yakutiye district of Erzurum Province in 2017 and 2018 to compare the botanical composition, canopy coverage rate, rangeland quality degree, rangeland condition, and health classes. The obtained results showed that the grasses and legumes were higher in the traditionally grazed pasture site with cattle herds, and in the pasture site that is long-term leased and grazed with sheep herds, the other families were more common The vegetation was determined as sparse in the long-term rented section. As a result, pasture health was in risky class in the long-term rented site. Pasture health was healthy in the traditional grazed site, Pasture health was in the healthy class in the traditional grazed site with more frequent vegetation. The pasture condition class, which is a comparison of the current vegetation with the climax vegetation, was in the medium class in the traditionally grazed pasture site, while it was in the risky class in the long rented site. The obtained results showed that the destruction of vegetation was more advanced in the long-term rented site and such renting was not suitable for sustainable pasture use.
