ENERGY USE EFFICIENCY AND ECONOMIC ANALYSIS FOR TOMATO PRODUCTION WITH CONVENTIONAL AND GOOD AGRICULTURAL PRACTICES IN MIDDLE BLACK SEA TRANSITIONAL ZONE OF TURKEY
Özet
This study covers agricultural farms, producing tomato and applying good agricultural practices (GAP) and conventional practices (CP) in the Middle Black Sea Transitional Zone of Turkey. The purpose of this study was to determine the amount of input and energy use efficiency and carry out an economical comparison. Fifty tomato producers participated in the survey. Total energy input, energy output. energy output/input ratio in GAP and CP farms were 49907,86 MJ, 51034,47 MJ, 76000 M.Tha-1, 73600 M.Tha-1. 1.52 and 1.44. respectively. The energy productivity, specific energy and net energy values were 1.90 kg MJ-1, 1.80 kg Mk', 0.53 MJ kg-', 0.56 MJ kg-', 26092.14 MJ 22565.53 MJ respectively. The cost of tomato producing for one kg of tomato was calculated as 0.19 $ GAP farms, while it was 0.15 $ for CP farms. The results indicated that adaptation of GAP in tomato production is more advantageous for energy efficiency compared to CP, while the CP is more advantageous for production cost.
