2009-2013 YILLARI ARASINDA ERZURUM BÖLGE HASTANESİNDEKİ KİSTİK EKİNOKOKKOZİS ŞÜPHELİ HASTALARIN İNDİREKT HEMAGLÜTİNASYON (İHA) METODUYLA DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ

Cystic echinococcosis is an important zoonotic parasitic disease that affects both animal and human

health in the society that especially environmental health and preventive medicine measures are inadequate both

in our country and world. In this study, our aim was to determine IgG antibody positivity of Echinococcus

granulosus in serum samples which were collected from cystic echinococcosis suspected patients

retrospectively.

This study performed in 2009 serum samples collected from cystic echinococcosis suspected patients who

applied to Erzurum Regional Training and Research Hospital, Microbiology Laboratory between January 2009

and July 2013. A commercial kit working with indirect hemagglutination method (Hydatidose,

FumouzeLaboratoires, France) was used to detect the antibodies in serum samples. 1/160 titer and higher results

were evaluated as positive in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.

191 (9.5%) of total 2009 patients were detected as positive by the way of cystic echinococcosis. 112

(58.6%) of total 191 positive patients was female while 79 (41.4%) of them was male. Our research found the

highest positive titer 1/640. 31–45 group of age were observed higher than the other groups indistribution of the

number of positive cases according to age groups regardless of gender.

Cystic echinococcosis is seen as a major health problem depending on livestock commonly done in our

region. We can say that in the middle ages without gender difference is greater incidence of the disease.
